coming home.
There is always a feeling of sadness that walks across the soul when you drive away from the ocean. No matter how many sea shells or grains of sand that make their way home we can never fully capture it's essence. Sometimes we talk about moving to the seaside, other times it is just a story we share late at night. But as we make our way north a sense of comfort seeps in. An empty house awaits our arrival. A lonely dog who is ready for a walk. Plants that need watered, books that need read, and toys that have laid silent all week. There is something about returning from vacation that brings warmth and ease. We enjoyed your company Figure Eight Island, but it's good to be home.
I may have gone a little overboard on the photos this year. Do you think 756 is too many?? I'm hoping to start editing and sorting tonight so I can share our trip with you this week.
photos above are from the farmers market // reading on the patio // a lazy dog // plants that need love // piles of polaroids // a clean (unfinished) kitchen that smells of strawberry bread

I feel the same when I leave the mountains! But I must say I love the trees and hills in Ohio!
