a thankful birthday.

Today is my birthday. Thirty three.
Last night we celebrated with family and friends. A simple cookout in our backyard.
Good food and good conversation over a glass of rosé.
Records softly played in the background and traveled out our windows.
The music carried over the yard.
Over our voices. Over laughter.

It was last night that I realized the joys I have in life.
This wonderful family who is able to gather together.
My husband whose love surrounds me everyday.
My children.
Our home.

There are no presents in the world that could equate to these joys.
Today, on my birthday, I am taking time to stop and be thankful for these blessings.
