a little birthday girl
wrapped herself in ribbons
squealed in delight
and captured the crowd
with her stillness.
the gaze of her eyes
(a subtle blue )
touched every soul present
a flutter of the heart
a sly grin
a soft appreciation
that consumed our thoughts
the room became silent
suspended in the moment
until the echo of laughter
bounced off her lips
into our ears.
when the stillness was broken
we laughed
together as family
over this sweet angel
who spread her wings
onto our hearts.
happy birthday sweet jessica.
you will always be my little angel.
I should have seen the signs! The first thing I did when I got to the show was spill coffee all over my new grey suede shoes.
As parents we learn I suppose. I also know that we can't carry guilt with us, so this is my way of leaving this in the past. I have learned. I have moved on and Jessica had a wonderful Sunday with family and friends, which is all that matters.
What a gorgeous party! The headband is amazing.
ReplyDeleteLibby,
ReplyDeleteSoooo pretty! You are so talented and Jess is blessed to have such an involved Mommy!
XOXO,
Shan
Love the cake! You have a beautiful family, thanks for sharing! I'm a new follower via Thrifty Thursday!
ReplyDeleteoh, how wonderful. love her crown!
ReplyDeletehappy 1st. :)
eeep.... that was gorgeous - did Martha Stewart come over and decorate it all?! I can't decide who looks more darling - mama or baby! No stress.no guilt.. she's one and will only remember family.love.laughter surrounding her - even if it was a day 'late' - thankfully they have no concept of time yet! Being a 'woodland' lover myself - these party details are fantastic - I'm just planning our daughter's 2nd woodland b-day theme! xo

Oh Liz, guilt as a mom is the worst. We are so hard on ourselves, but I'm glad you're choosing to leave it in the past. I guarantee sweet Jessica didn't mind at all and I'm sure if you she could tell you she'd say how proud of you she is!
ReplyDeleteThe party looks amazing! You did such a great job and, as always, you guys are too gorgeous! Stunning!
Jessica, she is BEAUTIFUL. I just love the little details, like her amazing birthday crown. Happy One Year of being a momma to this beautiful girl!

Liz, this is BEAUTIFUL. I am amazed by your party-planning skills! I'm pretty sure my kids will have all paper and plastic crap from Walmart because I have absolutely no talent in this area.
