my day

a baby wakes. the sun begins to rise. a mother yawns and prepares for day.

a boy giggles over a juicy bite of cantelope.

that slowly drips down his chin.

fresh flowers brighten a rainy day. garden love.

a grandmother is patience. love and warmth.

a curious child smiles. she laughs.

and her voice echoes into my heart.

a mother runs.

a mother prepares little tiny treasures for a vintage shop.

carefully and delicately.

memories return while shucking corn under a kitchen window.

a family celebrates food.

and a baby makes us smile.

a mother reads her new cookbook. shall we bake tonight.

we laugh while we play.

we crawl away.

and we snuggle in bed. little owlie makes sleep better.

and a silly sock monkey becomes a friend.

a mother works late into the night.

and finally rests at the end of this day.
