Taste of the NFL
Friday night of our trip to New Orleans marked the "Friday Night Huddle" where the chefs had the opportunity to be recognized for their achievements, mingle amongst themselves and chat with the football players that participated in the event.
It was also a chance for local culinary students to shine. Not only did they prep and work the event, but they also helped prepare the food. The evening was filled with good food, fine spirits, local musicians and artists and friends. Afterwards, we headed to Dante's Kitchen for a late night dinner. If you're ever in the area I highly recommend this small neighborhood restaurant. The bartender was great, his drinks were amazing (not to mention they make all their own mixers in house)and the food was local and fresh. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Culinary students practice their mixology skills.
Jon and Chef Carl
I'm actually not taking a picture of our friends. I'm really taking a picture of the guy in the background who we believe was Will.i.am from Black Eyed Peas ;)
Jon may have asked me to take this picture. Just saying.
The old hand on the waist trick. I picked that one up from Miss America
Saturday night was the Taste of the NFL charity event. It truly was an amazing experience and we feel honored to be a part of it. Thank you to the culinary students and our fabulous volunteers who helped us immensely with food prep, serving and clean up. Chef Carl's George's Bank Seared Scallops with a Sun-dried Tomato Beurre Blanc were a hit.
The above photos are all from the Bender's Tavern booth. Below are from the rest of the event.
The Cake Boss
We would also like to thank everyone who voted for Bender's Tavern at our local "Taste of the NFL." Without your support this couldn't have been possible. We feel it was an honor to represent the Pro Football HOF at the 2013 Taste of the NFL.
Thank you everyone!
