Happy (belated) Birthday Dr. Seuss!
Friday night we dressed in silly cloths, we gathered all our Dr. Seuss books, we baked a few special treats and collected all the craft supplies in the house. To celebrate Theodor Seuss Geisel's birthday we hosted an official "Dr. Seuss" party.
I gave the boys poster boards that they decorated with images I printed out of Dr. Seuss characters, glitter, stickers, and their own little stories they created. We worked on Seuss puzzles, word hunts and writing activities, which were great exercises for Josh's letter practice and Jonas' reading and writing.
And after all this fun work we ate homemade pizzas, Thing 1 and Thing 2 cupcakes and green egg candies. After my parents and Julie (my best friend) left I tucked Jess into bed, but not without reading a Dr. Seuss book or two, and the boys and I watched Horton Hears a Who on the office floor. We then cuddled in bed and read as many Dr. Seuss books as we could.
And the best part of the night? We all fell asleep in mama's bed. I love those nights!
Here are a few of my favorite Dr. Seuss quotes:
"You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.”
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
Enjoy your Monday friends
xoxo

ReplyDeleteI honestly think that I love Dr. Seuss even more than Dallas does, haha. He is a big fan of Green Eggs & Ham (he even decided that the little nameless guy in the book was actually named Charlie because apparently being nameless just isn't ok with him) but I'm more of a Oh, the Places You'll Go kinda girl ;)
oh i agree! i LOVE dr. seuss. i always pick his books and the boys always pick star wars. they didn't have a choice on this day ;)
